Patient Update

The Maples Surgery is open – but in line with NHS Guidance our main door will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

All appointment requests are triaged by a clinician via an initial telephone or video consult . A face to face appointment will be offered following this if it is clinically necessary. Nurses are continuing to see patients for appointments that cannot be done remotely. Flu clinics have been arranged as a drive through to ensure we can safely and responsibly vaccinate a large number of patients whilst maintaining social distancing. These Steps have been too reduce the risk of the virus spreading in our community.

2734 calls were answered at The Maples last week so demand is already huge. We are already running at full capacity – before the winter season has even arrived. Please remember to request appointments wisely. Minor illness advice is available on our website and also on .

A COVID Symptom checker for both adults and children is also available on this site ( and should be consulted before contacting the surgery for COVID advice.

We do not have access to COVID testing. All request for testing should be done through the website ( or via 119.

The increasing demand means you may have to wait up to 7 days for a routine telephone appointment – but any clinically urgent cases will be dealt with on the same day as usual.

The current situation has affected us all – So please remember to be polite to team when calling as they are only human too.
