Minor Injury Unit (MIU)

A Minor Injury Unit (MIU) provides treatment for minor injuries, Patients can walk-in without an appointment and receive care that is less serious than what would require a visit to the Accident and Emergency.

Cheshunt Minor injury unit https://cheshuntmiu.nhs.uk/ is open every day from 8am to 8pm, located by Cheshunt Library. They cannot treat children under 1 year old.

Examples of injuries treated at Cheshunt MIU:

  • Suspected fractured (broken) bones
  • Muscle and joint injuries (sprains and strains)
  • Minor burns and scalds
  • Bites and stings
  • Cuts and grazes
  • Minor eye injuries
  • Minor head injuries
  • Removal of foreign bodies from the ears or nose
  • Removal of splinters

They can also prescribe emergency contraception (morning-after pill).
